About

One of my aims as your counselor is to help you implement positive change. With a non-judgmental approach, I will come alongside you as we seek to understand the causes of your symptoms. We will work together to discover the answers to your questions, relying on your existing strengths and God’s guidance through His Word and the Holy Spirit. My hope is that through our time together you will grow in self-awareness, rediscover meaning and purpose in your life, gain resilience, and practice gratitude to God in spite of difficult circumstances. As we learn to humble ourselves before Him, He is faithful to lift us up.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goals as a Christian counselor are to provide biblical guidance, emotional support, and practical life change by helping clients see their identity and purpose through a biblical worldview. Clients can expect to heal emotionally, grow spiritually, and live according to biblical principles. Through faith there is hope and restoration; God can redeem difficult circumstances. My aim is to encourage accountability and character development, and to replace unhelpful habits with more effective and healthy patterns.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

With compassion, patience, and no judgement, I integrate faith, biblical truths, and therapeutic skills to help you grow and heal. Through our time together, my clients can expect improved anxiety management, forgiveness and spiritual healing, relationship improvement, and reduced negative thought patterns. I offer a variety of clinical evidence-based skills to help you experience the growth and healing you desire. Some techniques I may incorporate include creating SMART goals to strengthen your relationship with God, prayer, Scripture, journaling reflections, and mindfulness techniques.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

As a Christian counselor, my focus is to be Christ-centered and holistic. I believe that true healing and transformation can occur when clients are able to explore their struggles in a confidential, supportive environment while also seeking wisdom and guidance from the Bible. I encourage clients to develop a deeper relationship with Christ, while also building healthy coping skills, improving communication, and strengthening relationships. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy and respect as you navigate life’s challenges through faith and biblical truth.

Grief and Loss

The pain of grief and loss sometimes comes suddenly and at other times can be seen and expected from afar. Grief can be described as sadness, rage, guilt, or confusion. It tends to patiently linger. You have loved and there is loss. We can expect it to come and go as we feel the pain until we can learn to carry it. Together in session we’ll learn practical ways to cope with your grief and work toward being able to say, “I see you and I’m not running anymore.”

Anxiety

Anxiety can make us feel as if everything is coming apart. Uncertainty looms and fear of the future, near or far, can be stifling. Understanding anxiety is foundational and learning practical coping techniques can offer relief for your restless mind. Anxiety is born when your mind wanders. In session we will practice controlling our thoughts through simple statements such as, “I am here, now. This moment is what I have. It is safe.” Breathe. Your mind can be at peace. Together we will work to build the muscle of mindfulness so you can free yourself from the prison of anxiety again and again and again.

Depression

The perpetual negative emotion (sadness, low self-esteem, grief) can be absolutely paralyzing and can occur together with other conditions. Setting goals and a self-directed strategy can encourage meaning. Through therapy we will address the negative emotion that propagates your life and increase positive emotion that can move you forward. It can be complex, but you are not alone in your treatment plan. Truth is a good place to start to reduce suffering and find glimmers of hope.

Spiritual Development

Through a combination of theological grounding, psychological knowledge, and practical wisdom, I would be honored to walk with you in your continued journey of spiritual development. Reading, praying, walking with God is nothing short of a relationship with Him and yourself. It is never perfect, but with an understanding of a lifestyle of commitment to it, we all can become our best selves.

Marriage Counseling

Marriage is paved with micro-negotiations, regular dates, and normal “bumps” along the way. Maybe the key to a sustainable marriage is not avoiding these bumps but leaning into them and embracing them. With patience and persistence, communication, negotiation, and romance can be an enduring happiness, built on the bedrock of understanding and commitment.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling can provide a safe environment for you to discover your inward self in a world that highlights external circumstances. Growing in personal awareness and responsibility versus victimhood is key to discovering your role in the life you were always meant to live.
