What does “spiritual awakening” mean?

Because of Adam and Eve’s sin in the Garden of Eden, we are all naturally born in sin. Unless we are born again by the Holy Spirit, we will remain eternally separated from God (Romans 5:12, John 3:3). Knowing this, Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4). However, when the Holy Spirit shines His light into sinners hearts and makes alive what was once dead (John 6:63).

A spiritual awakening is a sudden supernatural revelation from the Holy Spirit of something you had not consciously been aware of before. The most important being your need for salvation – a deep conviction that leads to great sorrow over your sins, repentance, and inviting Jesus into your heart to become your Lord and Savior.

Once you have done this you are born again, transformed into a new creation through Christ, and transported out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:13-14).
