About

God didn’t give us this precious gift of life to merely survive. He gave us life to thrive, and it’s time to embrace it for the priceless gift it is. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you. To give you hope and a future. To prosper and not harm you.” I provide a counseling space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin making sense of what you have been carrying. In our work together, you will learn how to process what you have been through and begin replacing the lies you have believed with the truth God speaks over you. This is where meaningful change begins.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

One of my goals as your counselor is to help you find healing that is deeply rooted in God’s truth and His care for your life, even if you have lost all hope. With God’s guidance, my aim is to help you experience forgiveness, acceptance, and a healthy path forward in Him. You will be supported through faith-based foundations that reinforce coping strategies and encourage perseverance and resilience, while fostering a sense of hope and meaning.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I offer a compassionate, caring, judgment-free space for you to explore what is going on in your life. I will meet you where you are and guide you toward healing, with God’s direction and help. Together we will consider the roots of the problems to address the source rather than the symptoms. I will help you connect with the “hows” and “whys” lead you to resolution, rather than just addressing surface issues. I can provide coping skills, answers, direction, and clinical support to help you start the healing process and learn how to lay down misconceptions and pick up God’s truth for your life.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

As a Christian counselor, I believe that suffering, pain, and trauma were never part of God’s plan for our lives. His plan was the Garden of Eden, where shame, judgment, and suffering did not exist. I also believe that Satan comes to steal, kill, destroy, and lie to us in order to keep us from fulfilling God’s will for our lives. His primary tool is the shame that he piles on us, which weighs us down and makes us want to hide. God doesn’t want us to live in shame. Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins, thereby releasing us from the bonds of shame. As children of God, we need to be reconnected to His truth.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and a Master of Science in Organizational Management and Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Great Falls, now the University of Providence. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Justice Studies focus from Montana State University.

With over 18 years in the mental health field, including 15 years in emergency psychiatric crisis response, I bring extensive experience working with individuals facing trauma, severe mental health challenges, and life-threatening situations. This includes direct work in community crisis response, hospitals, and structured treatment settings.

My background also includes training law enforcement, first responders, and hospital staff in crisis intervention and de-escalation. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with prior licensure in New Jersey, I offer a depth of experience that allows me to meet you in both everyday challenges and more complex situations.

My Call to Christian Counseling

This work developed over time through both life experience and a growing sense of direction from God. What began as a different career path gradually shifted as it became clear that people felt comfortable opening up and trusting me with meaningful parts of their story. That recognition led to a deeper commitment to counseling and to the role God had prepared for me. Walking alongside others in their healing process is something I do not take lightly, and it continues to be a calling I am grateful to live out each day.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

I was a professional florist for 13 years. During two consecutive Christmas seasons, I decorated the mansion of the Governor of Montana. Thanks to my parents, I fell in love with classical music. At 19, I learned how to play the viola and played with the Helena Symphony and Montana State University orchestra for several years.

I enjoy a lot of needlework and sewing, and still do flower arrangements when I can. I love animals and currently have cats. I also love to travel. When my husband and I were married almost 22 years ago, we made it our goal to travel to all 50 states and 7 continents. So far we have been to 45 states, 17 countries, and 4 continents. I enjoy going to movies and Broadway shows with my husband as well.

Grief and Loss

Including Complicated, Traumatic, and Prolonged Grief Disorder

We all grieve at our own pace and in our own way. We grieve more than just death or relationships. We grieve every major and even minor change in our life. We grieve who we were, who we are, and who we believed we would be but are not. The only right way to grieve is to acknowledge it and allow yourself to move through your own process.

Important steps include validating and accepting your emotions, finding meaning and purpose, honoring or memorializing your loss, and learning how to move forward. Avoiding or burying grief can lead to it festering and affecting all areas of your life, including your relationships and ability to function. It doesn’t make it go away; it makes it worse. Grieving and healing does not mean forgetting. It means being able to find new meaning alongside the loss that allows us to embrace the memories and find healing from the suffering.

Military | Veterans | First Responders

Throughout my career and life, I have had a special heart for active-duty military, veterans, and first responders. I come from a long line of veterans who have been serving this country since it was founded. I married into a career military family and have twenty veterans in what I consider my core family. My husband was an emergency manager, paramedic, volunteer firefighter, dispatcher, and drug task force officer in his career. I have worked alongside police and EMS in crisis response for fifteen years. I also trained police and EMS in crisis de-escalation. I have worked therapeutically with many active-duty, veterans, police, and first responders to help them heal from trauma, moral injury, addiction, and mental illness.

Addiction, Mental Illness, and Psychiatric Care Services

Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Personality Disorders

I have spent my entire career working with people suffering from addictions and mental illness (situational, acute, and chronic). I can offer you education and coping skills. Together we will address your trauma as well as other underlying issues, such as family dynamics, healthy boundaries, grief guidance, hope, restoration in functioning, and growth.

Please note: For more severe mental illnesses including bipolar disorder, schizoaffective, and schizophrenia, you must be under the care of a Psychiatrist and be med-compliant. For addicts, you must be actively working on sobriety and sober during your sessions.

Trauma, PTSD, and Abuse

Trauma (Direct and Vicarious), Gaslighting, Abuse (Childhood, Domestic Violence, Physical, Emotional, Sexual), Disaster Victims, Suicide Survival

Throughout my career I have not only worked with trauma victims and survivors, but I have also responded to the immediate aftermath and have personally experienced trauma both direct and vicarious.

Trauma often affects how you think, respond, and relate to others long after the event has passed. Our work will focus on helping you understand how those experiences still impact your present. You will learn practical ways to manage triggers and emotional responses while also processing what you have been through. At a steady and safe pace, we will begin to reduce the intensity of those experiences, allowing you to regain a sense of stability and begin moving forward with greater confidence.

Family Members of Addicts, Mentally Ill, Autism, Personality Disorders, Chronic Illness, Chronic Pain, Trauma Survivors, Gaslighting Recovery, and Completed Suicides

Supporting someone who is struggling can take a toll on your own emotional and spiritual well-being. Counseling can help you better understand what your loved one is facing while also identifying your own needs. You will learn how to set healthy boundaries and reduce patterns that may unintentionally enable unhealthy behavior. I will also create space for you to process your own emotions and experiences, including grief, stress, life adjustments, gaslighting recovery, and more. This will lead to a healthier balance where you can care for others without losing yourself.
