About
For many of us, entering into counseling can be one of the most challenging and courageous things we do. In order to take that leap, we need faith and a belief that our life will improve, that things will get better if we seek help. I want to encourage you by reminding you that you are not alone. Although life can be challenging and recovery can be hard, it’s not impossible. We will walk the journey together, one day at a time sometimes, one moment at a time until you’re ready to walk it on your own in fellowship with those who will support you, with a newfound awareness and connection to God.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
Luke 17:21 says, “. . . behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” In our work together, my goal is to help you remove everything that is not of God and no longer a benefit to your life. As many of us go through challenging experiences either in childhood, adolescence, or adult life, we take on coping skills and behaviors that help us survive. However, those same skills and behaviors can later become detrimental and cause us suffering and harm. Whether it be a behavior, a perspective we’ve taken on, or even an addiction, it is possible to change. My aim is to help you recognize and be free from all that is no longer useful to you, and to empower you to know the strength you have within as well as the strength you have through Christ.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer the benefit of over 30 years of collective experience in the fields of recovery, education, and health and wellness, integrated together to support you and your walk with God. My aim is to help you apply what we learn and put it into practice in a way that saves you time, money, and unnecessary suffering. I will use my training to not only help you alleviate the unpleasant symptoms you experience but also address and treat the root cause. We will also seek to address any barriers that are hindering you from achieving your specific hopes, dreams, and goals. You can expect moments of creativity and fun as well as healing and growth.
My Approach to Christian counseling
As a Christian counsellor, my approach to counseling is to surrender to God and ask Him to guide each session. This the greatest tool I hold in my belt. Depending on your comfort level and preference, I will invite you to join me in prayer, listening to worship music, and taking time to listen to His guidance. I will also support you with home activities that you can do each day to improve your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. As our sessions progress, I will encourage you to connect and fellowship with other members of faith or support groups, as well as “bookend” goals and activities with those groups or friends to optimize growth.
