About

It is a joy and privilege for me to be able to work with individuals and families through therapy. One of my goals as a Christian therapist is to bring others to a place of healing, peace, and understanding about who God has made them to be and how He has equipped them to navigate through life. Using a variety of therapeutic techniques grounded in God’s Word, I will help you establish new patterns and processes to promote lasting, positive change in your life. With God’s grace and strength, you can overcome the challenges you face and find hope and peace.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as a Christian counselor is to help individuals, couples, and families navigate through life’s ups and downs using biblically-based therapies and techniques. I want to help you achieve emotional and spiritual health, gain a fresh perspective on current circumstances, and develop tools that leave you well-equipped to thrive in life. As each situation is unique, I will offer an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs and goals. My hope is for you to walk away from counseling feeling equipped and spiritually grounded.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I offer a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you can be seen and heard, be appropriately challenged when needed, and be comforted through hard times. I believe the things learned in therapy must be translatable to everyday life in order to create lasting change. At-home assignments and the development of healthy coping skills will be individualized to fit the needs of each client. As a therapist, I will continually evaluate what tools are working and when new tactics need to be applied.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

Every therapeutic approach I use is first and foremost steeped in biblical truth and will incorporate Scripture, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines to promote personal and spiritual growth. As a Christian therapist, I believe Christian counseling must be filtered through the truth of Scripture. That must start with me as the clinician; I must remain grounded in the Word of God daily. As we meet in session, I will seek to gain an understanding of what you already believe about God. Even if you don’t feel like you are in a good place with God, our time together can promote health and healing.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a BA in Christian Studies with a Minor in Psychology from Mississippi College and an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

I have worked with adolescents, children, and families in some capacity since 2004. For the last seven years as a director of a Private Christian Preschool, I have had the privilege of creating and implementing behavioral modification plans, conducting parent sessions, and teaching social and emotional skills to children ages 3-11.

My Call to Christian Counseling

While serving as a summer missionary, I felt a very clear call into vocational ministry. This call, along with a newfound appreciation for human psychology and a deep existing love for Scripture, led me to further my education with a Master’s Degree in counseling. My heart’s desire has always been to help others navigate through life’s difficulties with the best clinical care that is steeped in the Word of God and with the ultimate goal of pointing others back to Christ.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

I am a mom to three amazing humans, ages 21, 19, and 13. As a family we love traveling to the mountains and going on long hikes. We also enjoy family game nights any chance we get. When I have down time, I love to go fishing with my dad, sew with my mom, or listen to a good podcast. I enjoy teaching Women’s Bible study at my church and have had the opportunity to write Biblical Curriculum for ages 1-11 as a school director.

 Counseling for Children

Working with children is a privilege. Being a child is hard. The world that we live in expects so much from children, but oftentimes they are not properly equipped to meet these expectations. When working with children, I seek to see them through the lens of empathy. This keeps the counseling environment a safe place for children to openly express their feelings, fears, and needs. I will work closely with the parents or guardians to promote healthy emotional growth at home and school.

Counseling for Teens

The teen years are full of changes, growth and choices; learning to process through them with a trusted adult can make a big difference. My desire is to come alongside you as you work to develop your own identity, values, and moral code in a nonjudgmental place. My aim is for you to come through these years as an emotionally healthy young adult. Along the way, I will help guide you to a deeper understanding of yourself and the God who created you.

Individual Counseling

There are countless reasons why someone might seek out counseling. To me, individual counseling is personal and tailored to fit each client’s needs and goals. Whether it is past trauma, anxiety, depression, or something different, we can work together to formulate a plan and set goals that will move you forward in life.

Codependency

Codependency is a word often heard, but rarely understood. If you are struggling in your interpersonal relationships, chronically “people pleasing” or enabling others, we can work together to move you into healthier relationships. We will work together on setting boundaries, advocating for your own needs, and coming to a deeper understanding of God and His plan for your life. Changing relationship dynamics is hard work, but the benefits are worth it.

Depression and Anxiety

Depression can look and feel like the blues, overwhelming sadness, isolation, or even hopelessness. Anxiety might be situational or chronic. Depression and anxiety are thieves that want to rob you of life’s joy. However, there is hope and healing to be found through sound therapy and in the Word of God. I will walk beside you as we seek to understand how negative thoughts, unhealthy beliefs, past experiences, or difficult circumstances have led to depression or anxiety.
