About

During our time together you will be given continual opportunities to heal through various modalities, to address both emotional and spiritual concerns. I like to provide real life, practical applications for my clients so they can experience lasting transformation and growth, with God’s help. When we experience a new life in Christ, whatever the circumstances, we join a journey that is to be trekked in community and not alone. It would be my privilege to be one of your fellow travellers on your journey as you seek to grow in Him.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

As your counselor, my goal is for you to experience true emotional, mental, and spiritual healing and to find hope and help in the process. In our time together I will provide practical insights into a life worth living – a continual journey of growing faith.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

My practice reflects acceptance, makes room for God’s grace, and offers hope to any and every person searching for meaning and desiring to make sense of life. True healing and personal growth stem from being a new person in Christ, who takes our worries, anxiety, shame, and fear and replaces them with peace and comfort. As your counselor, I will guide you through a process of self-analysis (who we are) and encourage you to experience the transformational work of God’s Spirit through Scripture—all by God’s grace.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

My approach to Christian counseling is based on God’s grace, His work in our lives, and the realization that it is He who makes beautiful what is messed up in our lives. God created us to enjoy the human existence and He also created the processes by which we are made whole: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. These are all interconnected and deserve to be graciously treated appropriately.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I earned my Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas and my Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Music and Christian Ministries from Dallas Baptist University.

My Call to Christian Counseling

Before pursuing my careers in Christian counseling, I had a strong desire to be in the helping field and wanted to further explore the possibility of making a difference in people’s lives. I find it a great privilege to have the opportunity to offer hope and purpose to those who seek counseling services.

Counseling for Teens

My experience working with adolescents (including at-risk youth) has given me a passion to see the lives of young people transformed from being misunderstood and judged to being heard, accepted, and validated.

Anger Issues

Anger is a strong emotion that gets a bad rap because it is often combined with unacceptable behavior. I enjoy being present when a person learns that they can express themselves in healthy manners while angry. It’s a control thing.

Group Counseling

Group therapy is a terrific form of counseling because it allows each member to realize that no one person is alone and that individuals don’t have to suffer needlessly in silence. Group therapy benefits are numerous. Each one of us gains knowledge and understanding that can lead to wise decisions to make life more enjoyable. There is strength in numbers.

Relationship Issues

Relationship issues are essential to understanding life and getting along with others. We can all benefit from knowing how to treat others the way we desire to be treated. Each one of us has our own details of how we like to live and that initially means we put on our best face first before we ever think about revealing the true self . . . if we get to that point in time. Knowing and experiencing healthy relationships is a constant work in progress. Let’s get to work.

Trauma

Trauma seems to be a buzz word that gets a lot of attention, and rightly so. All of us experience trauma at some degree and form in life; yet it can also cause a lot of suffering in silence because there may be a certain amount of guilt or shame that overwhelms us, producing fears that paralyze us. Let’s not allow any trauma to grow roots in us. If it already has, then we can identify what those experiences are or were and graciously address them so you can live the way that life was meant to be, with God’s healing and grace.
