About

In God’s economy, grace never runs out – you can never be “too far gone” to receive His love, mercy, and compassion. My prayer is that through our time together, you will grow in your understanding of who you are in God’s eyes and how you can find freedom from your struggles as you live out His purposes for your life.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

One of my goals as a Christian counselor is to provide a space where you feel seen, empowered, and encouraged to reach your therapy goals. My hope through our sessions is for you to better understand that your mental health struggles don’t have to define or control your life. Ultimately, my desire is for you to find true freedom in Christ.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

Our sessions will be highly collaborative and focused on addressing your treatment goals. I’ll create a supportive environment to help you make decisions that will allow you to progress further down your desired path. One of my aims is to foster moments of laughter and to celebrate the major milestones and small victories along the way.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

Being a Christian counselor allows me to integrate my worldview into my sessions. I believe God has created us in His image and we are here to glorify Him. Through counseling we can better understand ourselves and also our relationship with God. By integrating modern psychology and psychotherapy with our faith, we gain a better understanding of ourselves. No one is too far gone; there is always hope. God has a purpose for everyone and grace abounds.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling (MA) from Dallas Theological Seminary, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (BA) from Texas A&M University.

My Call to Christian Counseling

I became a counselor because of my desire and passion to help others. I have always been fascinated by people, their unique life stories, and how God has intricately shaped their lives. I wanted a meaningful career that was focused on helping people and pointing them toward Christ. Through my own life journey, I know how helpful it is to have a counselor walk alongside you during life’s most challenging times.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, paddleboarding, reading, and cheering on my favorite football, soccer, and Formula 1 (F1) teams.

Counseling for Teens

I have extensive experience working with adolescents who suffer from depression and anxiety. Through my work, I have seen how it can be difficult for adolescents to navigate all the changes they are faced with on a daily basis. In this stage of their development, teens become more independent, form a distinct identity, and create lasting peer relationships. This is a critical stage, and it can be helpful to have a therapist alongside them to navigate this new stage of their life. In my work with adolescents, I partner with both the adolescent and their parents and provide practical tools and resources to help the family function as a more cohesive unit.

Depression

Depression is a serious mental health disorder that negatively impacts your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It can happen to anyone, teenagers and adults alike. Everyone experiences moments where their mood is low. However, depression is marked by a persistently low mood or loss of pleasure or interest in activities for a long period of time. For those suffering from depression, therapy provides a dedicated space to process how you are feeling, and offers ways to manage and reduce depressive symptoms.

Anxiety

When we feel anxious, our heart starts to beat faster, and we may start sweating, trembling, or have difficulty breathing. We can feel nervous, scared, or a sense of impending doom. This is our body’s natural response to situations that can make us feel stressed and fearful. However, if your anxiety is impacting your relationships, work, and home life, then it could be beneficial to talk to a counselor about how to manage these symptoms. Through practical interventions, we can work to help change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving and reduce the underlying symptoms behind your anxiety.

Suicidality

Suicide affects people of all ages. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide was the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-14 and 20-34 in 2021. For individuals struggling with suicidal ideation, these thoughts can become overwhelming and cause further isolation from loved ones. However, there is hope. As someone who has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with suicidality, I have seen how effective therapy can reduce these thoughts and help you find meaning in life. If you are currently experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or visit your nearest emergency room.

Boundaries

Boundaries are about establishing a balance between taking care of yourself and being supportive of others. Boundaries are not about building walls or shutting others out, but are rather focused on creating clarity and mutual respect in your relationships. By setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, you can improve communication, reduce conflicts, and foster more support and understanding among family members, work colleagues, and peers.
